Praying with Refugees

We invite you to spend some time in prayerful contemplation, giving up your thoughts and heartfelt wishes for asylum seekers and refugees. Below is a selection of prayers and poems written by some of the people that JRS supports. You might also want to log onto the Praying With Refugees page on the JRS USA website.

Dear Lord,

Thank you for the gift of life, for your love and for your mercy.
You are Almight God, King of the King, God of Love and Mercy.
I am kneeling down because of my sins, wash me with you precious blood and grant my prayer. Your mercy is no borders, no conditions, you love me the way I am.

Thanks Lord for your care. In difficult time you have been with me, I have seen your almight hand upon me, you have protected me from death because you want me to repent, to work for you, to testify about your goodness. I saw you Lord when everybody, everything was taken away from me, you were with me, you have never abandoned me, you are my best friend, my faithful one. When I was sick, you healed me, when I was hungry, you gave me food for my body and for my soul, you are my EVERYTHING GOD!

Help me to remember always your love, your mercy. Guide my steps, cover me with your precious blood, protect me from the evil's forces.
Thanks for leading me to this new and beautiful country God, it is you alone who has planned for me this. You put on my ways many angels to help me, bless them oh Lord!

Bless all the benefactors who helped me to find my sons, gave me accomodation, permanent residency, job,...be on their side oh Lord!
Bless the leaders of this country Lord, give them the wisdom so that they could accomplish their duties with love and justice.
I pray for my country of birth and the whole world, may the peace and love of Lord be with them, no violence!

My prayer goes to those who till now ignore you oh Lord; open their heart's eyes so that they can see the miracles of your hands in their lives and enjoy your love and your mercy.

Strengthen widows and orphans in theirs struggling lives.
My prayer goes to the religious, may the holy spirit guide them in their delicate job of good shepherd.

In Jesus name I pray. AMEN.

When I think about Peace

When I think about peace

I always think about a calm place

White

Somewhere

Where people have respect for each other

Somewhere

Where there is no fighting

No war

In a place like this

People care about each other

No fighting

No fighting

I wish one day

We could have

A world with peace.

Life

Living in future expectancy

Living is worthwhile once you are born

You just don't live life for fun it's not a matter of how you want it

You may feel you know how to go about it

But that's self instinct for those who do it

Imagination sometimes can do it

In all life goes on if you can do it

All ability all strength all energy you can do it

God's discretion is ultimate, if he wishes you do it.

Freedom from Fear

Justice and Freedom, peace without hunger, dignity and respect for human beings
And rights for refugees, these express the ideas which I believe in, as declared on the human Rights Declaration of the United Nations on the 10 December 1948.

It defends my rights and the rights of citizens around the world.

These Human Rights are tested in any part of the world were injustice and corruption still prevail, when governments violate the right of defenceless populations and the rights of their citizens to freely express their opinions or these opinions are manipulated.

These injustices many times mean ending in incarceration and persecution. In my opinion we can not rest until justice is done; we will live peacefully when our rights and values are respected, when our religious and political views are respected.

I wish freedom and peace to all humankind. Freedom from Oppression and Freedom from Fear.
