We’re searching for highly professional and independent people, passionate about supporting people seeking asylum in NSW to join our amazing team!

With four new and exciting positions available there are plenty of options for ways you can assist us in our mission to advocate, accompany and serve refugees and forcibly displaced people.

Policy and Advocacy Coordinator

 The Policy and Advocacy Coordinator will provide policy, advocacy and research support to JRS Australia with an emphasis on asylum seekers in the community and in detention, and will contribute to developing, with JRS Director and other staff at JRS Australia, the strategic planning for new fields of advocacy. She/he will also strengthen policy, advocacy, research, events planning and delivery, support organisational strategic planning, reflection and learning; and support with the development of JRS policy positions on key issues affecting people seeking asylum and refugees.

Communications Coordinator 

The Communications Coordinator will be responsible for developing, coordinating and implementing JRS Australia’s communications strategy and supporting the Country Director in all communication actions concerning the mission of JRS in Australia.

Community Development Officer 

The Community Development Officer will work with local communities to bring about social change and improve the quality of life of people seeking asylum. In partnership with others, she/he will ensure those who are marginalised and excluded from society are included and supported to gain self-confidence to increase their engagement with the local community.

Project Officer 

The Project Officer will be responsible for:

  • The mapping of the activities, initiatives and projects concerning refugees and people seeking asylum across the Australian Jesuit Province.
  • The delivery and development of the JRS Schools Engagement Program that engages with young people around the topics of forced displacement, human rights and social justice
